Chair Repair Before & After

This is a chair in the process of being reglued.

  • The seat was removed
  • All parts were completely disassembled
  • The dowels were tested and replaced if necessary
  • All joints were cleaned for remaining glue
  • High-performance epoxy was applied to all dowels
  • The chair was reassembled
  • All joints were clamped with clamps (pipe, bar, and band clamps)
  • Once the glue has dried and cured, the clamps will be removed and the chair will be cleaned up
  • The seat will be reinstalled

Sometimes as glue ages, it dries and weakens. This end table had fallen apart over the years.

Here is a drawer where the front has partially delaminated from the face.

You can never have too many clamps.

A customer sent in this picture of an arm chair where one of the legs had broken off.

Can we repair it?

Here is the same chair afterwards.

Yes we can!

The metal bolts and other hardware were removed, replaced with solid wood, and converted so this will now be maintenance-free!
